Urban Construct Civilians For Rogue Trader

I have begun building a small settlement of my own, mostly meant for sci-fi games, but most of the buildings will work for modern, near future or post apocalypse settings too. Naturally the town must be inhabited by someone else than Space Marines, Orks, Saurians and other conflict oriented miniatures, so I begun collecting and painting some civilians to fill out the streets.

First up is a set of sci-fi civilians from Urban Construct.

The complete set ready to go about their daily buisness.

I think the models are quite good. Not the best I have seen, but they are simple and will work well in the settlement I am building. They also scale up with Rogue Trader and most other miniatures I use. Still I took some scale shots:

L-R: Black Hat, U.C., Spacelords, U.C., Rogue Trader.

L-R: Foundry, U.C., Reaper, U.C., Rogue Trader.

Besides the Urban Construct miniatures I also painted a few other miniatures. These are not strictly civilians, but will do well for sci-fi or post apocalypse:

EM4 Miniature and converted Citadel Thug.

Chaos in the streets.

And up the wall for a group shot.

I will be posting more about my settlement soon. For now it includes a few houses, some cars and general bits and bobs. Hopefully it will end up being terrain enough for a full table. At least i am half way there when I combine the current settlement with my wasteland terrain.

  1. Thanks for sharing these. I've been debating whether to get a set for a little while now because I was unsure on scale and quality of sculpts. It looks like they're certainly passable. Which means I should go and buy some ;)

    1. You should and I am even sure they will look much better with your paintjob than mine ;)

  2. They actually seem to scale pretty well with those other manufacturers. I might have to. Pick some up at the end of the month.

    1. They will work fine with most stuff. After all people ar enot 100% to scale in the real world either :)

  3. Every time I see a bunch of civilians hanging around in the street -in a futuristic setting- I just feel like blasting them with my Gauss gun & watching them run around on fire. Maybe I played a bit too much Syndicate in my youth?

Nice street population you've amassed their Jonas, I especially like your thug conversion, subtle but tasty.

    Cheers.

    1. They will be totally blastable when I put them into games ;) hehehehe....

I am afraid I didn't do the conversion on the Thug myself. I bought him like that on ebay, long time ago, but I really like him.

  4. Oh these are lovely Jonas. The EM-4 chappie is my personal fave, but they are all very nicely painted indeed. I actually thought the top picture also looked colourful and characterful enough to be some sort 'Legion of Super-heroes' if it ever took your fancy ;-) Great stuff!

    1. Thanks. I chose the bright colours because I think the models looked so much like 80s sci-fi. :)

  5. Really nice additions to any game! Its always good to have Civie to hide behind in a fire fight! :) Do any of these companies make a good "ships crew" set of Sci fi figures?

    1. Thanks. And as I wrote on the Oldhammer Forum, I would say the ships crew from the Spacelords range would fit well.

  8. Like Axiom, I have been toying with buying these for a couple of years. This post has made the decision for me, great stuff. They look much better than I thought that they would, well done.
