More Random Rogue Trader Stuff

So here I have some recent paintjobs, some re-paint jobs and so on. These minis don't have any actual purpose just yet, but in time they will populate our Rogue Trader universe.

As usual the photos are not really good at all, but I am beginning to give up on that and just document some painted miniatures for now. Hopefully I will learn one day though.

Scum, Villains, Outlaws.... and a rogue servo skull.

Geezer

One of the old guard, he was there when Melnibonia was first populated and he knows the ins and outs of the jungles and the outback settlements. He is now working as a gun for hire and will take on any job.

Space Dout

State of art robot hunter. Space Dout arrived on Melnibonia when the Robo-Wars broke out. He is equipped with the best gadgets money can buy and he hunts down renegade robots and droids to pay for it all.

Viconia De'Vrie

Mysterious Dark Elf mercenary. Even more sinister than the dreaded Eldar Pirates. It is said that she was once living a different life in the Outer Gate of Baldhuur, but no one knows for sure.

Erhardt

Pilot for hire and speed freak. Erhardt likes fast space craft, fast cars, fast bikes and fast women. Everything is fast with this guy, but the price is sometimes high.

The minis are mostly old Citadel, only Erhardt is an old Grenadier model.

Epic Adventures 2002 (Part V)

I guess it is time for another last minute update....

This time I don't really have anything new for my list. I have been painting a lot of random stuff and not much Epic. But I did paint a bit Epic and I also still have some undocumented stuff.

Today I took pictures of my Land Raider Company. I also took some pics of old minis, to document how my old armies looked, before I eventually repaint. And last but not least I took some pics of my Warhound Titans.

As it turned out all the pictures where quite bad. But I worked a bit with it and in the end I chose to just post about the Warhounds.

Painted around 1992/93 - 2010 - 2020

Back in the days Warhounds came together two at a time. I managed to get four and paint three back then. In 2010 I stripped one of the old ones and repainted (as seen above) and now I painted the 4th one.

I have decided to keep the two from the 90s as they are. I kind of like them even though they are far from my current standard. (Even if you can't see it on my terrible pics).

New Hounds.

I am going to update the paintjob on the 2010 Warhound and do the base with sand and goblin green. I know they don't come in pairs anymore, but I still need at least two ready for battle.

Old Hounds.

The old Warhounds didn't follow any Titan Legion scheme at all. I painted one red and one yellow, the third one I later stripped had a squared red/yellow theme. My old Warlords was blue for no reason.

Now I want to do some Iron Skull type Titans, but they will be in the service of my Blood Angels so far.

I really wish I had two more Warhounds as I would like to paint some Legio Astraman. I am currently painting Astraman for new A.T. and it would be fun to try the paint scheme on the old models.

Rogue Trader Commodore Crew

Working a bit on this and that, so I played around with some of the finished employees of the Commodore Droid Store gang. These are mostly just workers, encounters and non combatants.

Droids are from Ainsty Castings Spy-Fi line and the operator is an old Acropolis Designs/Zap Miniatures model, now sold by The Baggage Train.

Have fun...

Epic Adventures 2020 (PART IV)

Oh boy, I guess time just blew me by... After getting a headstart last month I almost didn't manage to make a post for June....

But I did actually paint a lot and some of it has been for Epic. Somehow I came a bit off track and I painted a full Land Raider Comany, a Medic and begun some Titans too, all of which is not part of my list. I did manage to pull off a few models from the list too and so here they are.

Predator Detachment

Vindicator Detachment

Medic

I don't know if I will eventually alter the list according to what I actually paint or if I will paint the list and treat everything not on the list as extra.

I will try to take new pictures of my Tactical Company soon. Both because I whent over them a second time and changed a bit, but also because the first pics was really bad. Secondly I will take pictures of the complete Land Raider Company too, but I want to print banners first...

Epic Adventures 2020 (Part III)

Next phase: Tanks. Getting a headstart here in May I painted up a detachment of Landraiders to start off. At the same time I have once again decided to alter my paint scheme a bit.

Now I am inspired by this 1st edition scheme.

1st edition box art.

And searching the net I found Ben Hardwidge's awesome Blood Angels which gave me the drive to finish my Landraiders.

1st detachment done.

Bloood!

Side view.

I think these turned out great and I will deffinately boost them to a full company over time. Everyone loves Landraider companies anyway.

Epic Adventures 2020 (Part II)

The Epic journey continues. But I have been having a couple of unforseen problems along the way.

First off I really died in the process of painting Land Raider stribes for my Terminator Detachment, so after some time I went for the Tactical Company instead.

Next there was trouble about the pics. I usually take the photos with my wifes smartphone these days and send it to my email. But for some unknown reason this time it just took ages before I recieved them.

And finally, it turns out that I really have no idea about how to take proper photos of Epic minis.

Blood Angels Tactical Company.

But hey, I guess the most important thing right now is to get the ball rolling, so I will post this and see where it takes me. Maybe the Dr. The Viking can help me take some better Epic pics one day.

Also I can really see now that I need to tidy up a bit on the legs and such stuff. I also want to add banners at some point. But for now I will say these are deffinately good enough for gaming in style.

Top down view of the markings.

I don't want to plan what to come next this time. We will just have to see how it unfolds. I did get quite far with the Terminators though, so eventually they will join the forces.

WIP.

Epic Adventures 2020 (Part I)

Something never dies. The first real miniature wargame I was into was Epic Space Marine, the 2nd edition of the game. It must have been around '91 or '92. I got the boxed game for my birthday and right away we put the Titan together and played around with that and the Rhinos, Land Raiders, Ork Battlewagons and Eldar skimmers.

Together with some friends we embarked on the journey to collect each a different army and battle it out. One friend chose the Eldar, one friend chose the forces of Chaos, I chose the Space Marines, since I already had a quite large army from the box. Eventually a 4th friend chose the Squats.

But in the end it was always the Chaos player and my Space Marines dugging it out. We only played with fully painted miniatures, so I guess it was only us who actually had painted armies.

This is how the 2nd Edition box was presented.

I had to choose a Space Marine chapter for my army.

I really liked the Blood Angels army I saw in all the pictures and battle reports, I also liked the Ultra Marines army they used in some othe rbattle reports.

But in the end I had also looked a lot on the older pictures of Epic miniatures and especially the cover for the 1st edition Space Marine box set caught my eye. The Dark Angels in their shiny black armor.

Add for 1st Edition and Codex Titanicus.

But I was living in the early 90s, so my Dark Angels army was mostly black with a drybrush, metal parts picked out in boltgun metal and goblin green bases. I did do a bit of random things to spice it up, but it was mostly ugly with ugly on.

A mighty Blood Angels army of yore.

Fast forward to around 2010 I got back into some Epic gaming with Dr. The Viking, from over at Dr. The Viking's Miniature Games Hell, but since he was introduced to Epic a wee bit later than me it seemed that we didn't really agree on what the game was supposed to be.

I wanted to do the Epic 2nd Edition I knew from my childhood, but we ended up doing Epic Armageddon, which I didn't really grow super fond of, and we also tried stuff like Future War Commander.

I started repainting my old forces and this time I went for those nice Blood Angels. I was doing Blood Angels in 28mm scale now too.

Some of the Blood Angels I painted around 2010

This army never got really finished and digging it out here odd 10 years later I decided to update it a bit and finish it this time too.

So now in 2020 it is time to go really back to the roots. I am going to finish a 4000pts Net Epic Gold Blood Angels army.

4000pts: A mix of new army, old army and some second hand.

I chose my army from what I already had painted (everything will be updated though) and then I upgraded from there. Doing it the old way, taking three Marine companies and adding from there.

I picked from the Vanilla list, since we didn't use special chapter rules previously.

Some of it is more painted than other things and I might change the list over time or add additional units. I plan to end up with at least one painted unit of each of the classic choices and ignoring anything too new I don't like. And I will paint Titans (of course)

So far I hope to paint 500-1000 points pr month. Starting with the Terminator Detachment, the Land Raiders and probably som other random stuff to test the paint scheme and such

This losely follows the rules of A Get Back into the Epic 40.000 Universe ArmyChallenge™ started by Dr. The Viking. And I hope to keep up with him.

Resin Scatter Terrain (Part I)

Recently I have been painting a lot of random stuff, but not really finished anything worth posting about. Or so I thought. But one thing that might deserve a post is the random resin scatter terrain I have painted.

Over the years I have accumulated a lot of small terrain bits and pieces. But mostly it has just been lying around unpainted. So here is some of the stuff I painted recently.

Bort and the Rascals defending their desert outpost.

But it seems that Mon S'lant kicked them out.

This is just completely randomly chosen objects, so no actual plans to use them for anything really specific. I made some grafitti here and there, some tie in with our RT campaign and some is just again random.

I think a lot of this kind of stuff can bring the table to a new level. It makes settlements seem populated and can be used spice up and costumize a lot of different set-ups.

Resin pieces are mostly from Pardulon, some Fogou Models and I think there is some Ainsty Castings too...

Rogue Trading Rejects and Outlaws

Continueing with some models for Rogue Trader. This time I have a mix of different personalities. Some painted recently and some just got their bases and paintjobs updated a bit.

In space there is a fine line between the good guys and the bad guys. So these can be outlaws in some parts of the universe or heroes in other parts.

These guys are up to no good!

Pratai Tarbh

Bounty hunter, space pirate, gun for hire, assassin, bodyguard. Anything that involves killing people. Pratai Tarbh carries a mastercrafted bolter with an extra long handle and twinlinked lasgun horns.

Reekor

This guy doesn't just stink, he reeks of death. Armed with a homemade poisoned gassing device he likes to take his victims alive, this way he can sell them as slaves later. Mini is from Krakon Games' Stargrind line.

Dr. Jarro

Dr. Jarro used to be a brilliant scientist with a brilliant brain, now he is just a brain. But luckily enough when his body collapsed in a lab accident somebody acted quickly and put his brain in a jar, later attaching it to a robotic body. Unfortunately the process has now made him a mad scientist instead of a brilliant one. Mini is from Black Cat Bases.

Bort

Bort used to manufacture licence plates, but one day he got tired with the routine and just took off into the ash wastes.

Space Police Agents and Ork Weirdboy

This time I have a mix of some old and some new. I repainted an Ork Weirdboy and I slightly updated a couple of Four A Miniatures (I believe another company bought the rights to these, I thought it was Macrocosm, but could not find them on their page). Also there is a dog.

The Four A guys are painted in mostly blue and white colours, which is the universal colours of police types, so they are a couple of rogue space police/enforcers, travelling around with their dog and apparently arresting Ork Weirdboys.

"Hands up you scum!"

Weirdboy

The Weirdboy doesn't have a name like the other guys, he is going to be part of my Ork forces, for now they are still a nameless bunch of raiders.

I was searching for this Weirdboy for quite some time and when I finally got it I painted it right away. It was already painted and I decided to paint on top of the existing paintjob as a guide/inspiration when I made his colours fit my Ork gang.

Original paintjob

Side by side

Okking

Once a cop, always a cop. He used to be a big shot crime investigator on Earth, but his drinking problems got him discharged with disgrace. Now he is a low life copper hunting down trouble in the far reaches of the known Universe.

Sams Eye

Sams Eye is not really called Sams Eye, but everybody has been calling him that since he was stationed on the far away outpost moon Sams Eye. Now he is just known as the Copper from Sams Eye.

Gut

Gut is a good dog. Friendly and happy. Sometimes he eats out the guts of outlaws too.

More Rogue Trader Pirates

A few more members for Erythron Mon S'Lant's crew. This time I have a couple of bounty hunters/guns for hire type dudes.

I am not 100% sure if they are all done, but for now they are good enough for gaming.

A dynamic duo of killing machines

Venkman

Venkman is a pretty cool dude, he wears a thick layer of armor and has a mechanical arm, which he hustled some limb doctor for on the black market. He likes money of any kind and will change loyalty at any point he smells bigger money, like a real hired gun should.

Fenn

Fenn is a cloned warrior from a far away galaxy. His expertise from long forgotten wars has made him a deadly oponent for anyone in his way.

Nick

Good old jolly Nick, he is not really part of the Mon S'Lant crew, but I thought I would post him since I finally finished him after being nearly done for 5 years or so.

I think Nick will show up some day, maybe flying in on a jet cycle dealing justice to the bad guys and such.

Erythron Mon S'lant and Crew

Starting a new year and hopefully this year will bring a bit more gaming....

As usual I don't post nearly as much as I would like to, but I actually get some painting done. Some projects I will deffinately return to this year is my WFB3 Dwarf Army, Fantasy Skirmish, Rogue Trader and I will do a post (eventually) about my Space Fleet game, which finally got painted last year, after I bought it back in 1990.

First off is the beginning of my Rogue Trader crew. Lead by Magos Biologis Erythron Mon S'Lant and hopefully his adventures will turn into a running campaign.

Full Crew

What they are up to I don't know yet, but hopefully something good. I actually think I got a briefing earlier, but updates must come as the campaign goes on.

Erythron Mon S'Lant

Erythron is a low life Magos Biologis going around his buisness, collecting samples, stealing artifacts, touring the universe, as you do when you are on the run.

Matlox

Matlox is straight, no drinking or combat drugs, but instead his brain has been connected to a computer chip that stimulates agression and shooting abilities.

Xatam

Xatan on the other hand has taken so many combat drugs that his skin turned blue and he is now so addicted that he can hardly enjoy killing without it.

G.O.

G.O. used to work for A&L Corporation, but decided he was better off making his luck on his own or in this case, with Erythron.

Subject-5

Subject-5; Part animated corpse, part machine. Your could say he is some kind of servitor, but this guy was deffinately not made by Imperial standards.
