Tzeentch Warband Part I

I finally got around to take some ok pictures of my growing Tzeentch Warband. I chose the best 9 of the pics and I present the Chaos Warband of Gaston De'Lune and his Followers of Change.

The complete warband so far.

It is a bit embarrassing, but so far Gaston have not managed to lure a Sorcerer to his cause. But in the spirit of change a Tzeentch warband with no magic is probably quite different. Still Gaston hopes to get the aid of a skilled Magician in the near future.

The Guardian, Gaston De'Lune and Uthmog Elvenblade

Backside details.

Gaston De'Lune.

Gaston is an disillusioned noble with no inheritance. As a trained knight he chose to try his luck in other ways and went on to form a group of brigands travelling aimlessly through the land pillaging as they go along.

Gaston has pledged his allegiance to Tzeentch as he seek to plot revenge on his family who turned his back on him. What better God to align with than the Changer of the Ways, when you want to change things for the better... at least for yourself...

Uthmog Elvenblade.

Uthmog is Gastons right hand man. Uthmog is an experienced Chaos Champion, but has no trouble following the much younger Gaston, as long as it pays well.

Secretly Uthmog might has his own reasons to suddenly follow the ways of Tzeentch, but so far he just enjoys the changing of opponent from alive to dead with his heavy hammer.

The Guardian.

A mysterious man or beast. He never speaks and no one really knows how he came to join the group. But he seems to be blessed by Tzeentch. Is it his head on the top of a long neck or just a strange mask or hat? No one knows.

Chaos Thug Champion and Beastlord.

A mighty Chaos Thug Champion and Beastlord has joined the warband. Both hold promises of hordes of thugs and beastmen to join Gaston in the future.

Pink and Blue Horrors.

Two Pink Horrors was gifted to Gaston, as demonic aid, when he made the pledge to serve Tzeentch. With the ability to turn into Blue Horrors, these are relentless on the battlefield.

Gzaz-Bagg - Chaos Troll.

Gzaz-Bag was quick to join Gaston. Relying mostly on brute force, he is a bit crude for the taste of Tzeentch, but as long as he bashes the heads of the stagnating enemies of Tzeentch, Gaston lets him change the world in hos own ways.

Tzeentch Warband WIP

So, now I am doing an Oldhammer Tzeentch Warband. It is just work in progress, so far, but I promise to post more (and better) images as things get more finished...

A Chaos Champion, base unfinished.

Throwback Saturday

Things have admittedly been going really slow around here lately. I am not painting or gaming much anymore and most of my miniatures time goes with sorting my collection, selling off unwanted items and projects I never get around to finish.

Then this thing happened today. I was sorting out old files in the computer and I fell upon a folder of pictures of my old Blood Angels army. This army was mostly done in the time of 40K 2nd edition, but it didn't get any game time untill 4th.

The paintjob is deffinately not up to my current standard, but some of you guys might get a kick out of seing this anyway.

Complete Army.

Bikes.

Commanders.

Larger command section.

Death Company.

Dreadnoughts.

Some of the Rogue Trader guys.

Medic on bike.

Scouts.

Tactical Squad 1.

Tactical Squad 2.

Vehicles.

Terminators.

Most of this army has been sold off long time ago, but I have kept some of the older models and have them lying around somewhere.

It would be funny to put a unit or two of these guys on the table once more.

My First Fully Painted Fantasy Army

If you have been following this blog or know me well, then you also know that I have been mainly dabling in Sci-Fi miniatures of all sorts. But lately it seems that the Fantasy bug has bitten me.

As mentioned previously I had been struggling to paint an Oldhammer Dwarf Army, but since we started playing Age of Sigmar I have actually been able to fully paint a gameable army. Only 1000 points so far, mind you, but I have plenty of models to expand my army.

The Classic Army Pose!

So far my army consist of the following characters and units:

Dwarf General
Runepriest
Engineer

Two units of 10 Warriors
One unit of 10 Quarrellers

A Cannon and a Giant

Heartbreaker Hobbies Dark Dwarfs

Ever since I saw these lovely (but odd) Dwarf miniatures, from Heartbreaker Hobbies, I wanted to use them with my other Oldhammer Dwarfs. They didn't quite fit in with their rather strange style, but still I couldn't help myself buying a bunch of them. The ones I have is actually a mix of the Heartbreaker Dark Dwarfs and their "normal" Dwarfs, but I decided to do them all as Dark Dwarfs since their style is more similar to each other, than to the rest of my Dwarfs.

Complete unit of 10 Dwarfs.

First I was going to paint them as D&D Duargar, but trying out a lot of different paint schemes I could not really find one I liked. In the end i came up with the combo of bluish skin and white hair and I think it generally works.

Their attire is mainly armour, but on their clothed parts I decided to stick with my army's main colour scheme of red and white. Again this works out fine for most minis, but I am not 100% satisfied with everything.

Second row.

Fluff-wise these will be allied Dark Dwarfs from the Under Mountain, but AoS game-wise they will be played as Dwarf Warriors with hand weapons and shields.

Some backside details og shields and such.

Building on the background story for my Dwarf Army the main portion of my Dwarfs left the mountains and moved to the hills outside the main human settlements, acquiring the lifestyle and habits of the humans. This works well with the Marauder and White Knight renaissance style minis and of course some of my older Dwarfs are just grumpy and still do it the old ways.

Then we have these Dark Dwarfs now. In my background story for them I decided that these are the Dwarfs that stayed behind in the mountains. Apparently something happened there which drove their regular kin to move and the same event has driven these guys to dig deeper and now live deep beneath the mountain.

The Dark Dwarfs have become twisted in mind and appearance, but when a war is fought on the ground they still come to help their distant relatives. Not only because they are related, but also because they just love the bloodshed and mayhem.

Oxy O'Cetylene and Tinman

Between a few of the larger units I decided to paint a Dwarf Engineer for my AoS Dispossessed army. I found that the model of Oxy O'Cetylene would fit well and so I decided to give him a coat of paint. Of course I could not paint Oxy without painting his lovely Tinman too, but I am not sure I can fit him into the army list, but I guess we can use him for some fun scenario or something.

Oxy and the Tinman.

Back view.

I think they both ended up pretty good. As usual the paintjob is simple and easy, but I like it.

Marauder Quarrellers

Next up I have finished a unit of Marauder Quarrellers for my Iron Hill Dwarfs. This boost my shooting a lot. Eventually I probably need to add ten more figures though. Getting a proper unit leader, banner and instrument will already add the first 3 models.

Front rank.

Second rank.

Besides painting Dwarf models I have also been building a bit of terrain on the side. Some of it can be seen in the back of some of my earlier posts. But since I just finished a Watchtower I thought I would showcase the buildings on their own too.

A Dwarf Brewery.

Scale with Dwarf.

The "Brewery" looks pretty anonymous so far, but I kind of kept it that way, so it could work out as other things too. I will eventually add a bit more small terrain stuff like wagon wheels, shovels, small clutter, to make it come more alive.

Small town house.

The watchtower.

Door shot.

The tower top.

My terrain is not the best in the world, but I try to learn and improve as I go along. My houses are build out of cardboard, Popsicle sticks and other free and cheap things I can get my hands on. I really try to keep the budget as low as possible on the terrain front.

But then again I really don't mind my terrain is looking like wargaming terrain and not small scale models. It has an old-school charm of its own.
