Hello out there.
I have decided that 2026 shall be the year to revive this blog. I am still semi active miniatures gamer, collector and painter.
I do need to sort out my leadpile and thought to myself; why not use my old blog to do so. So I will be making some kind of status reports of my projects. With pictures of new and old additions to my painted collection.
So what can we expect? What genres, games and sytems do I paint miniatures for? Well I will try to list some of it here and now.
FANTASY (28mm)
Warhammer Renaissance, Warhammer Renaissance (WHR) is a non-commercial, fan-made remake of the 1990s Warhammer Fantasy Battle game, available for free in electronic format.
For this I am painting an oldhammer Dwarf Army, which I have been doing for years by now. I only have Dwarfs for large scale Fantasy gaming and I don't plan to branch out onto other armies.
That said I have a lot of smaller warband sized collections of other races and types or even individual characters, those won't be abandoned, but won't be expanded to full armies either.

So in conclusion my Dwarfs will be my one major Fantasy Army size project and I will still paint smaller warbands and characters on the side, those will be for different skirmish games like Dragon Rampant or such.
SCI-FI (28mm)
I have played many different Sci-Fi miniatures games and genres and somehow it usually ends up somewhere in the 40K universe, be that rules or just the setting. I have ended up with cutting it down to 40K 2nd Edition for larger games (Large scale skirmish I guess).
In painted army size 40K 2nd Edition I have my main force of Blood Angel Space Marines and I also have Squats, Genestealer Cult and Orks. I don't really see myself getting more armies, but in time some might branch out, parts of the Genestealer Cult could be a Traitor Guard Army on its own or even a Tyranid force with no humans included.

For skirmish gaming I have mostly played various Post Apocalypse settings or (again) in a somehow 40K settings. So in the end it will probably be warband sized gangs in the Rogue Trader rules and the background we created through various games of yore.
An upside of having all my miniatures for 28mm Sci-Fi running around in the same sort of universe is that any miniatures from my larger armies can easily be press ganged to visit any skirmish game and the other way around.
OTHER GENRES/SCALES
I still have a rather large collection of 28mm Darkest Africa miniatures that I want to get ready for some games of Congo, Death in the Dark Continent, The Men Who Would Be Kings or some or other Victorian Sci-Fi ruleset.
Epic 40K/Adeptus Titanicus. While I liked the new Adeptus Titanicus it just moved forward way too fast for me to keep up. I still have a couple of Titans and the first set of rules that came out for it, but I am not sure if I will pick it up again or end up dropping it.
The old Epic 40K on the other hand is something I don't intent to get rid of.
Epic Space Marine (or the 2nd edition of Epic back in 1991) was the first battle size miniature game I collected and played and one day I will have a finshed and awesome army to play it again.
BattleTech. Well, I have bought into a little bit of BattleTech. I always liked the mech miniatures and thought now was the time. If more comes from it I will post a bit about that too.
I might have other things popping up now and then. But these are my hopes and goals for the coming year.

Good to see your blog back, I am looking forward to reading future posts.
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt. I wasn't sure anyone would still have their eyes this direction. I am glad to see you do.
