Doom of the Eldar

I have some good news. When Dr. The Viking, over at Dr. The Viking's Miniature Games Hell, heard my camera had broken down, he quickly came to my aid and gifted to me an old camera he had lying around. So it seems I am back in business!

What I need now is a bit more energy in my life or some more quit time, so I can doccument some of my projects. Also I might be straying a bit from the previous focus of my blog, since I am currently more interested in Victorian Sci-Fi/Darkest Africa and don't get much old school sci-fi and fantasy done.

For now my new camera has mostly been put to use for selling stuff on Facebook and Ebay. I am in the process of downsizing my collection and streamlining it all a bit more. I need the space and I need the money. But don't worry, I will keep most of my stuff and will hopefully have enough to blog about for many years to come.

When I was in the process of sorting out my stuff I came across the old GW boardgames (Battle for Armageddon, Horus Heresy and Doom of the Eldar), something I have had lying around for years and not really put to use since I was a kid. I have fond memories about gaming Battle for Armageddon and Horus Heresy, but Doom of the Eldar didn't bring back many memories of anything. I mostly remember it being too complicated and kind of boring, so I decided that it would probably be sold off.

Before selling though, I decided to give it a last go and see what it was like. It actually turned out to be a pretty good little game with both tactical options and luck of the dice. I played a single game with the wife and we both had good fun trying it out and in the end I decided to keep this one a bit more. I guess time will tell how much play time it will get.

I'm Not Dead Yet

First off I would like to say that I am sorry for my recent absence. There has just been too much things happening in my life and my miniatures hobby has been left behind for a while.

I have been painting a few miniatures, played a few games, but nothing has been documented and I haven't really had the energy to write about it all. 

And today I guess the final nail was hammered into the coffin. My camera died on me. So I won't be able to do anything with my blog before I get a new camera.

I did have a few photos, on the computer, of a dinosaur I bought in a pound shop and painted for fun. So here you go:

The cavemen are Copplestone sculpts which I used for games of Tusk! Mammoth hunting in the stone age.

Astronauts and Insect Men

Pheeeew, I barely made it this month. I have so much going on in my life, right now, so I forget how fast time is running.

Last month was my birthday and I was lucky enough to get some lead as a present. This time my wife had made an order with East Riding Miniatures and bought me, among other things, some Space Cochroaches and some Astronauts.

The Insect Men will easily fit with my Rogue Trader setting, I gave them a fast tan/brownish paintjob and I think it worked out really well. Maybe the red tips on their guns make them look a bit cartoonish, but I think it works out to give them a bit more detail.

The astronouts will probably be more hard to use for any game I can think of right now, especially since they are only four guys and only two of them have guns. But I really like the models and they were fun to paint. Again I used a pretty quick paintjob on them and since Astronauts are mainly white clad, I think they ended up looking flashy.

Deredo Class Dreadnought

One more Dreadnought done. This time I laid some paint on the classic Deredo Class Attack Support Dreadnought. Armed with a powerfist and a missile launcher it is ready to take on both armour and infantry.

Once again I gave this Dreadnought a pretty basic paintjob, adding a few details here and there. I got inspired by a picture of a Dreadnought in the Compendium book and gave this one a Cat face with eyes, whiskers and fangs. It is hard to see in the pictures, since he is leaning forward, so the face is in the shadows a lot.
